The gentlemen of St Patrick's Cathedral will be giving the first performance of my 'work in progress' cantata, The Falling Tear, which takes its name from this beautiful text by 18th century American poet and composer, William Billings:
When Jesus Wept the falling tear,
In mercy flowed beyond all bound.
When Jesus groaned, a trembling fear
Seized all the guilty world around.
Unfortunately I'll be in Aberdeen, listening to the Juice Trio singing an altogether different sort of piece, but paired with my Fauxbourdons, it should be a lovely service.
